গ্লোবাল ফায়ারপাওয়ার ইনডেক্স ২০২২ অনুযায়ী, প্রতি বছরের মতো এ বছরও সূচকটির শীর্ষে, অর্থাৎ সবচেয়ে সামরিক শক্তিধর দেশ হিসেবে যুক্তরাষ্ট্র তার অবস্থান ধরে রেখেছে। এর পরের অবস্থানগুলোতে যথাক্রমে রয়েছে,

প্রতি বছর মোট ৪৭টি ক্যাটাগরিতে, আলাদা আলাদাভাবে দেশগুলোর সক্ষমতা ও র‍্যাংকিং করে থাকে 'গ্লোবাল ফায়ারপাওয়ার'। এগুলোর মধ্যে মোট জনসংখ্যা, সৈন্য, সামরিক সরঞ্জামের সংখ্যা উল্লেখযোগ্য। প্রতিরক্ষা ব্যয়ের হিসাবেও সবচেয়ে শীর্ষে রয়েছে যুক্তরাষ্ট্র। দেশটি এ বছর প্রতিরক্ষা খাতে ৭৭ হাজার কোটি ডলার ব্যয় করবে, যা শীর্ষ দশ দেশের মোট সামরিক ব্যয়ের অর্ধেকেরও বেশি। শুধু ব্যয়ের দিক দিয়েই যে যুক্তরাষ্ট্র শীর্ষে, তা নয়। এই ৪৭টি ক্যাটাগরির মধ্যে ১৮ টিতেই আবার যুক্তরাষ্ট্র শীর্ষে । আর চীন শীর্ষে রয়েছে ১১টি ক্যাটাগরি।

সামরিক ব্যয়ের মতোই আরেকটি যে ক্যাটাগরিতে যুক্তরাষ্ট্র একচেটিয়া আধিপত্য রয়েছে। সেটি হলো বিমানবাহী রণতরী বা এয়ারক্র্যাফট ক্যারিয়ার এর সংখ্যার দিক দিয়ে। যুক্তরাষ্ট্রের মোট ১১টি ক্যারিয়ার রয়েছে। আর বিশ্বে মোট ক্যারিয়ারের সংখ্যা হলো মাত্র ২১টি। যুক্তরাষ্ট্রের ক্যারিয়ারগুলো আবার প্রত্যেকটিই সুপার ক্যারিয়ার, অর্থাৎ যেগুলো আকৃতিতে বিশাল ও অনেক বেশি যুদ্ধবিমান বহন করতে পারে। অন্য আর কোনো দেশেরই একটিও সুপার ক্যারিয়ার নেই। যুক্তরাষ্ট্রের সুপার ক্যারিয়ারগুলোর একটি অংশ, সার্বক্ষণিক বিশ্বের বিভিন্ন প্রান্তে মোতায়েন থাকে। যুক্তরাষ্ট্রের সামরিক বিমানের মধ্যে আবার ট্যাংকার বিমান রয়েছে ৬২৭টি। এই বিমানগুলো আকাশপথেই, অন্য বিমানকে চলন্ত অবস্থায়, জ্বালানি তেল সরবরাহ করতে সক্ষম। এর ফলে যে কোন বিমান, জ্বালানির জন্য অবতরণ করা ছাড়াই, আকাশে থাকতে পারে।

১৩৬টি উন্নত ও কম উন্নত দেশের মধ্যে চালানো এ জরিপে দেশগুলোর ভৌগোলিক অবস্থান, প্রাকৃতিক সম্পদনির্ভরতা, মানবসম্পদ ও চলমান অর্থনৈতিক চিত্রসহ বিবেচনা করা হয়। তবে পারমাণবিক ক্ষমতা এবং বর্তমান রাজনৈতিক বা সামরিক নেতৃত্বকে এ হিসাবে ধরা হয়নি।

Each year, Global Firepower ranks the capabilities of countries in a total of 47 categories. Among them total population, number of soldiers, military equipment are significant. The United States is also at the top in terms of defense spending. The country will spend $77 billion on defense this year, more than half of the total military spending of the top ten countries. It's not just that the United States is at the top in terms of spending. In 18 of these 47 categories, the United States is again at the top. And China is at the top in 11 categories.

These aircraft are capable of refueling other aircraft while in flight. This allows any aircraft, without landing for fuel, to stay in the air.

The survey, conducted among 136 developed and less developed countries, takes into account the countries' geographical location, dependence on natural resources, human resources and ongoing economic picture.
